It is with broken hearts that Rocky Mount Rotary’s Tackle the Tar event for 2021, scheduled May 14-15, 2021, has been cancelled.

 

Because of the uncertainties surrounding COVID-19 and the current governmental restrictions in place, we immediately looked for other dates in the year to reschedule but could not get the numerous pieces and parts to logistically allow this to happen. The health and safety of all those who participate to make this event so successful is most important to all of us. Last year’s event involved over 2,000 participants, spectators, volunteers, first responders, etc.
 

There are many changes in our nation now, but one important item that has not changed is the need to send our local students to our local colleges. This is the heart of Tackle the Tar and is what made the decision to call this event off for 2021 so unsettling.
 

We are asking your response to the different scenarios below:
 

1) A request for a full refund of the amount previously paid. For instructions on requesting a refund, visit Eventbrite’s help page by clicking HERE.

2) Keep the total amount paid for the Tackle the Tar 2021 event and donate all to scholarships. – DO NOTHING IF YOU CHOOSE THIS OPTION.
 

3) In addition to keeping the total amount paid, you would like to make an additional donation to Tackle the Tar 2021 to help these deserving local students. If so, click HERE, then click TICKETS and enter the amount to donate.

The scholarship dollars we are able to retain will be awarded to our three area colleges from this 2021 event. Thank you for your support.
