On Saturday, May 20, 2017, the Rocky Mount Rotary Club is hosting a 13323594_1737465619798430_6899351292898425527_oTACKLE THE TAR mud run and fun day at the Sports Complex.  The first heat begins at 9:00 A.M. and festivities will continue until mid-afternoon.

There’s a 5K OBSTACLE COURSE RACE that courses through the Rocky Mount Sports complex and the E.B. Grain Company property.  It comes complete with a MUD PIT and 15+ OBSTACLES to overcome.  All racers will receive: T-shirt, medal, one free beer (if over 21), and goodie bag.  See FAQ for more information. Suggestion: Don’t wear your Sunday best to run the course!

There’s a FOOD TRUCK RODEO where you’ll find all types of food being offered, including local home-style favorites and some food items you’ve probably never tried.
Suggestion:Don’t eat for two days before the event so you can taste all of the wonderful food varieties.

There’s LIVE ENTERTAINMENT to keep your toes tapping and your hands clapping – featuring CMT artist Bryan Mayer.

Suggestion: Bring someone who likes to dance on the grass with you.

RUN FOR A GOOD CAUSE since proceeds from Tackle the Tar will be used to fund scholarships for youth in our area.
Suggestion: Run with the idea that you’re sending children to camp and young adults to college.

Note on Pricing: Only race participants need to register and pay.  The event is FREE to spectators.  We welcome you to invite your friends and family to enjoy the music & festivities and watch you race.  Spectators will only need cash for parking and food and goods that you choose to purchase from vendors.  Read our FAQ page for more details.

College Run

We are now offering a 9:30 AM Local College Run. You must be a student, faculty, or alumni from Nash Community College, Edgecombe Community College, or North Carolina Wesleyan College to enter. The cost of the local college run is $30.

Our competitive heats will be limited to the first two heats (9:00 A.M. and 9:15 A.M.).  Cash prizes are to be determined.
